Creamy Avocado Pasta

I hope you appreciate delicious 10-minute-meals as much as we do around here. Either you are working or stay at home with your kids, there are days you just simply do not want to go through an hour to prep dinner. But as tiring as it might sound, you still need to feed some hungry (little) people (in my case, 3) at the end of the day and you definitely do not want to send them down to the “fast food” road. Oh maybe you do 😉 . Especially if fast food contains a whole lot of goodness that your beloved ones will benefit from as in the case of this Creamy Avocado Pasta.

This tasty Creamy Avocado Pasta contains only 5 ingredients: pasta, basil, avocado, baby lettuce leaves and lemon (you can season it with some salt and pepper but in my case those 2 were not necessary so I did not count them in 😉 ). And these are not just any five ingredients. These are 5 very powerful ingredients that will fill your loved ones (& yourself if you are not too tired to have some ^^) with healthy fats, carbs and various minerals and vitamins such as vitamin A, C, B6, Potassium and fiber just to name a few. Plus, this recipe does not call for any cooking of the fresh ingredients (avo and the greens), you just need to cook your pasta (or make them if you ehem` are having some MasterChef moments!). So no nutrients will be taken away by the heat from these beautiful ingredients.

For me this Creamy Avocado Pasta is definitely my go to recipe whenever I am short of time. Avocado and pasta are the 2 staple ingredients in my kitchen. And I grow basil, lemon and lettuce. If that is not convenient, I don’t know what is 😉 . So 10 minutes are all it takes and voilà a perfectly nutritious and tasty dish for the whole family (I do season ours with some pink salt and pepper while I leave Angela’s portion unseasoned).

Creamy Avocado Pasta

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes


  • • 1/2 cup uncooked pasta (you can use any pasta of your choice, I normally used wholewheat ones but I was running out so this time I used regular Pipe Rigate pasta)
  • • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • • 1 heaped handful of baby lettuce leaves
  • • 10 basil leaves
  • • 1/4 lemon
  • • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Cook your pasta according to package instruction. I add a bit of salt to the boiling water before adding the pasta. When the pasta is done cooking, drain it well.
  2. In a blender, add the peeled avocado, basil and lettuce. Squeeze a dash of lemon juice (not too much) and blend the whole thing up on high until a very smooth consistency is achieved. Add some lemon zest.
  3. Transfer the avocado mixture to a medium mixing bowl and add the cooked pasta. Give it a thorough mix until the pasta is well coated by the sauce. At this stage you can go ahead and season it with salt and pepper as you wish (I skip the salt and pepper on Angela's portion). You can chop the other half of the avocado into small chunks and serve on top of the pasta if you wish. Serve immediately.
